How to print a funeral booklet at home
Choose the correct PDF, paper size and duplex setting, then test one folded copy.
Choose the right PDF
The “Booklet / digital PDF” contains individual pages in reading order. Use it for viewing on screen or when a professional printer requests that format. The “Home-print booklet PDF” is already imposed: its pages are arranged in pairs so that folding the sheets creates the correct order. Do not apply a second booklet-printing setting to the home-print file.
Match the paper size
Select A5 in the editor for an A5 finished booklet printed on A4 landscape sheets. Select half-letter for a half-letter finished booklet printed on US Letter landscape sheets. Choose actual size or 100% in the print dialog. Disable extra headers and footers if your PDF viewer offers them. The design has white margins and does not require borderless printing or trimming. It does not include professional bleed.
Start with a duplex test
For most printers, a landscape home-print PDF needs double-sided printing with short-edge binding. Printer drivers use different labels, and paper feed direction varies, so print and fold one complete test booklet before making multiple copies. Check that the reverse is upright and that the pages read in order. If a side is upside down, change the duplex flip setting and test again.
Fold and assemble
Four pages use one sheet, eight pages use two sheets and twelve pages use three sheets. The home-print file outputs each sheet’s front followed by its back. Nest the sheets with the cover outside, align the edges, then fold firmly along the centre. If your printer has no automatic duplex mode, consult its manual for reinserting paper correctly. Test with numbered scrap pages rather than guessing on the final paper.
Check photographs and text
A clear photograph on screen may look softer when printed. Use the original image where possible and avoid repeatedly enlarging a small downloaded image. Look at the test copy in normal room light: can every guest read the text? Confirm spelling and dates again. If you are using a print shop, ask about paper weight, folding, whether they want single pages or imposed spreads, and whether the white-margin, RGB PDF is suitable for their process.
